Privacy Policy
Version 1.0 · Effective 2 October 2026
This policy explains, in plain English, what personal information Grid Guesser collects, why, and what you can do about it.
1. Who we are
Grid Guesser is an online motorsport prediction game ("the Service") operated on the Base44 hosting platform. In this policy, "we", "us" and "Grid Guesser" refer to the operator of this app.
You can contact us at any time through the Contact page in the app.
2. What information we collect
Account information. When you create an account we store your email address, a user ID, and the display name you choose. Your sign-in password is handled entirely by the platform's authentication service — it is not visible to Grid Guesser.
Profile information (optional). You may choose to add: nationality, favourite driver, a chart colour, a profile picture, a short bio, and preferences such as your prediction input method and whether you receive prediction deadline reminders.
Game information. The predictions you submit, your qualifying and race scores (including per-driver score breakdowns), your leaderboard positions, and your race/prediction history.
Social information. Membership of private leagues (league names, descriptions, admin roles and invite codes you create or join) and the rival/follow relationships you set up.
Communications records. A log of which prediction deadline reminder emails were sent to you, so each reminder is only sent once per race.
Technical and hosting information. The platform that hosts Grid Guesser (Base44) processes standard technical information needed to deliver and secure the service — such as IP address, device and browser type, and server/security logs — including when you sign in and use the app.
Usage analytics. The platform collects standard, aggregated usage analytics (such as page views, session counts and counts of events like predictions submitted, accounts created and leagues created) so the operator can understand how the Service is used. This analytics data is not used for advertising and is not sold or shared with advertisers.
Cookies and device storage. The Service uses a sign-in session to keep you logged in, and your browser's local storage to remember your light/dark theme preference. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Third-party sign-in (if enabled). If you sign in using a third-party provider (such as Google or Microsoft, where that option is enabled), the platform receives basic account information from that provider (typically your name, email address and account ID) to create your sign-in.
Payments. Grid Guesser does not currently process payments. If payment functionality is ever introduced, this policy will be updated first, and payment details would be handled by the payment provider rather than stored by Grid Guesser.
What we don't collect. We do not collect precise location data, your contacts, special-category information, and we do not sell personal information or share it with advertisers.
3. Why we use it, and our lawful bases (UK GDPR)
- Providing the Service — accounts, predictions, scoring, leaderboards, leagues and reminders. Lawful basis: performance of a contract with you.
- Operating your optional profile features (profile picture, bio, nationality, favourite driver). Lawful basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by removing the information or deleting your profile.
- Keeping the Service secure, preventing abuse and cheating, and fixing problems. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests.
- Understanding how the Service is used through aggregated analytics, so we can improve it. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests.
- Sending service emails you have asked for (prediction deadline reminders), respecting your reminder preference. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
- Sending optional marketing emails — only where you have ticked the separate marketing consent box. Lawful basis: consent.
We do not rely on a single "blanket consent" for everything: the purposes above are separate, and each has its own lawful basis.
4. How we use information
- To create and manage your account and player profile.
- To record your predictions, calculate your scores, and rank you on leaderboards.
- To operate private leagues, invite codes and rivalries.
- To send prediction deadline reminders (if you haven't turned them off).
- To send marketing emails only if you separately opted in.
- To keep the Service running securely and to investigate abuse or attempts to manipulate scores.
5. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- The hosting platform (Base44), which provides the app's hosting, authentication, database, file storage, usage analytics and email delivery. It processes information on our behalf as a service provider.
- An email delivery service operated as part of the platform, to send deadline reminder emails (and marketing emails if you opted in).
- Other players — but only the information that is part of the game: your display name, profile picture, bio, nationality, favourite driver, scores and leaderboard position. Your email address is not shown to other players.
- Authorities, where we are legally required to disclose information.
6. How long we keep information
- Account and profile information: for as long as your account is active.
- Predictions, scores and leaderboard history: for as long as your account is active, because historical standings depend on them.
- Consent records (which version of the Terms/Privacy you accepted, and your marketing preference): for as long as needed to be able to demonstrate what you agreed to and when.
- Technical, security and analytics logs: in line with the hosting platform's standard retention practices.
- When you delete your profile, your public profile is removed from leaderboards and you are signed out. Historical records linked to past races may be retained internally but are no longer associated with an active account or shown publicly; residual data is not kept for longer than necessary.
7. Your rights and choices
- Access: you can view almost all of your information directly in the app (profile, predictions, scores, leagues). You can also request a copy of your information via the Contact page.
- Correction: you can edit your profile details in the app at any time, or ask us to correct anything you can't edit.
- Deletion: you can delete your player profile in Settings → Danger Zone. To delete your underlying account (email/password credentials), contact us and we will action the request.
- Withdrawing consent: you can turn marketing emails on or off at any time in Settings → Privacy & Data, and you can remove optional profile information or delete your profile to withdraw other consents.
- Objection and restriction: you can object to processing based on legitimate interests, or ask us to restrict processing, via the Contact page.
- Portability: you can request a machine-readable export of the personal information we hold about you.
- Complaints: please contact us first via the Contact page. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
8. International transfers
The hosting platform and its service providers may process information in countries outside the UK. Where that happens, the platform is responsible for applying appropriate safeguards (such as UK-approved transfer mechanisms or contractual clauses) before information leaves the UK.
9. Children
Grid Guesser is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will remove it.
10. Changes to this policy
The version number and effective date are shown at the top of this page. If we make material changes, we will update the version and ask you to review and re-accept the policy in the app. We never silently overwrite the version you originally agreed to — your consent history records which versions you accepted and when.
